On Saturday, December12th, 17 beautiful Russian girls competed for access to the pre-final of the “Miss Russia 2010” beauty contest.
The gala competition for Miss Russia – St. Petersburg became one of the highlights of this winter and showcased the beauty and elegance that has become synonymous around the world with Russian girls.
The event was attended by Russian celebrities, local business elite, and an energetic crowd of individual supporters. The jury consisted of professionals in the field of fashion and style, the arts and culture, and business representatives.
In the historical center of St. Petersburg, in the glamorous Golden Garden Hotel, the participants had to demonstrate everything they had learned during the preparation for the contest with famous fashion-directors, photographers, and stylists. The contestants were asked unexpected and questions from the jury and random questions from the audience.
The girls competed in three categories:
Evening gowns
Fashion parade in a bikini
Personal interview in a dress
For some contestants it was their first beauty pageant experience, as not all participants of the contest were professional models. All finalists received new knowledge and gifts from sponsors and partners, and voting for the winner was hosted online by RusKey Biz on our Blog.
The jury had intended to select only three winners, but the elegant Russian girls were so beautiful that five participants were chosen as finalists: Olga Vyatkina, Victoria Bogoslavtseva, Alena Moskalik, Ksenia Polyanskaya and Ekatherina Bo.
In January among these 5 girls will be chosen the finalist who will represent St. Petersburg in the final of “Miss Russia – 2010” in March.
An official after-party was held in the same evening in the Begemot bar, where an alternative contest among the participants of the contest was organized, with the winner Regina Rakhimova receiving $1000.

Beauty contests in St. Petersburg are not uncommon; however, the “Miss Russia” competition is the most highly anticipated contest of the year. The “Miss Russia” competition is the most famous and prestigious beauty contest in Russia. For many years this competition has been considered much more than a traditional beauty contest. The organizers of the competition showcase to the world the most beautiful girls from all of Russia. The contestants are selected not only for their beauty, but their grace, elegance, and intelligence. Nowadays, the “Miss Russia” competition has acquired a global scale. Primary rounds started in November and any Russian girl from 17 to 22 years could participate in the contest. Participants were required to completion a registration form, submit photographs, and compete in a casting where judges selected the most beautiful girls for the final qualifying round.
On December 12th the winner for Miss Russia – St. Petersburg will be carefully selected by a jury which will include professionals in the field of fashion and style, representatives of Academy Model Agency, photographers and filmmakers, celebrities, and representatives of the Miss Russia competition. One of the evaluation criteria in selecting the winner will come from the Internet voting site www.mainpeople.ru. The winner will travel to Moscow and compete for the crown of “Miss Russia 2010” and $100,000 from Russian Standard Bank (www.bank.rs.ru).
According to the organizers of the contest, this event is a vivid and memorable competition where the most beautiful St. Petersburg girls have a chance to represent themselves to all of Russia, including representatives of show business, sports, and politics. The finalists will compete for valuable prizes, national fame, and the chance to represent St. Petersburg for the crown of Miss Russia 2010 “.
